Sitting with clients and listening to what’s happening in their business and their lives so much comes down to communication. It’s the key to everything and its also key to how I work with them as what I’m doing is communicating when advising, mentoring, asking questions and so on.

Recently I’ve been discussing project methodology with clients and talking to others about getting ‘stuff done’ with quick and sustainable wins.
I don’t know about you but I enjoy reading business and personal development books and generally have several ‘on the go’ at once.
Over the last few months these questions have come to mind, time and again, in conversation with clients and connections. Thinking about these questions gives structure to reviews and planning and perhaps more importantly gives cause to pause and think.
I’m lucky to live in one of the most vibrant and fast growing cities in the UK – Milton Keynes which is celebrating its 50th birthday this year and also writing its bid for the European City of Culture in 2023.
How often do we ask for help? Or perhaps more telling, how often do we shy away from doing so because we think it indicates don’t know what we are doing, not in control, or people will think less of us? Or some other deep seated reason?
‘Yvette I feel paralysed…’ was how a call started. After chatting for a few minutes it was clear overwhelm had set in due to the dichotomy of prioritising booked paid work over working on the business.
